Craniofacial Travel Medicine and Surgery

The Craniofacial Team of Texas treats patients from around the nation and the world. Patients who travel to Austin for their care often stay 1-2 weeks to recover from surgery. Following discharge, our patients are seen every other day until they return home. Upon returning home, we collaborate closely with designated physicians caring for our patients.

Craniofacial surgery to correct some complex deformities often requires families to stay in the Austin region for postoperative observation. Many families elect to vacation in Austin as a family member recovers from surgery. Austin is an award-winning city with many activities for all ages.

Unusual circumstances may affect length of time remaining in Austin, frequency and number of follow-up appointments, and recommended return visits. For long distance patients, follow-up appointments are often recommended at 2 to 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year post surgery.
