What is Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery?
The field of Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery involves performing reconstructive and cosmetic procedures on children. In children, this line is often blurred, as many congenital deformities impair physical function as well as aesthetics. Children make up roughly 3% of all plastic surgery procedures, and the majority of these procedures correct a congenital deformity.
Surgery for your child can be scary. When a child has a congenital defect, developmental abnormality, trauma, infection, tumor or disease, then surgery may be necessary to regain normal function or prevent current or future health problems. Our Craniofacial Team of Texas surgeons are highly trained and experienced to treat children and their families during this difficult time. We focus on restoring function yet keeping aesthetics in mind.
